State housing applicants must update personal data by March 31, 2012
GEORGE TOWN: Applicants of affordable housing in Penang must update their personal particulars by March 31, 2012 or they will be considered “inactive”.
State Town and Country Planning, Housing and Arts Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai said a total of 84,445 applicants who registered before Dec 31, 2007, had not updated their status.
He said updating the database would enable the state secretariat to more effectively process and allocate units under the People’s Housing Project scheme (PPR) and low and low medium-cost housing projects.
“The eRumah (the state’s online housing registration system) was introduced last year in our effort to be more transparent.
“Since then, the applicants can register and check their application status online.
“Now we want to improve and update the housing database system so those who registered before 2008 should furnish us with their latest details,” he said at a press conference here yesterday.
Wong said many had not updated their particulars resulting in offer letters being returned to the developers as some of the applicants had moved or passed away.
“We even have telephone numbers in the database that are still six digits so we cannot contact the applicants.
“Some were no longer interested as they are now earning more while others who had applied when single now have families.
“Since Dec 15, we have been distributing fliers and getting the elected representatives to inform the public about updating their status,” he said.
Wong added that some areas were in “hot demand” while others especially in Seberang Prai Selatan and Seberang Prai Tengah were not as popular.
Since 2008 till Dec 22 this year, a total of 26,917 applicants have registered for affordable housing.
Almost 5,000 have accepted the units offered while 17,949 are still on the waiting list.

（槟城23日讯）根据槟州房屋局统计数字，截至今年11月16日为止，州内有高达8万4445名中廉价屋申请者在2007年12月31日之前提出申请后并没有更新个人资料，导致发展商献议信件被退回，丧失购买廉价屋机会。
这批庞大数目的冬眠申请者，不但占据房屋局申请房屋系统的大部分空间，更占据其他后来申请者的优先权及加长等候时间。
为了改善州房屋登记及申请系统，槟州房屋局将从即日起展开一项为期三个月的清洁运动，清理这些“冬眠”的中廉价屋申请者。
任何在2008年前的中廉价屋申请者，必须从本月15日开始至明年3月31日向房屋局填写PN2更新资料表格，以便被献议购买中廉价屋，否则将列为不活跃申请者，须更新资料后才能“复活”。
掌管槟州房屋委员会的行政议员黄汉伟今日上午在光大52楼会议室召开记者会上这样透露。出席者尚包括槟州房屋局总经理诺沙阿达、州议员陈宗兴、陈明发及郑雨周。
州政府批建逾万单位 欲申请者速更新资料
黄汉伟说，槟州政府过去两年多已批准超过1万1000单位的中廉价房屋兴建，并促请2008年前的中廉价屋申请者把握机会，尽速前往更新个人资料，以便被献议购买廉价屋。
他说，在上述8万4445名未更新个人资料的申请者中，其中有2万2666人在1991至1995年期间提出申请，1996至2000年有9316人、2001至2007年则有1万9767人，至于剩余的3万2696人则年分不详。
他说，尽管当局曾在2007年举办一项重新登记运动，有将近1000人响应，不过，当局当时并没有更新或清理那些“冬眠”的申请者。
黄汉伟说，当局需要更新的个人资料，包括地址、联络电话号码、收入、家庭负担（父母、孩子）及其他资料。

檳房屋局改善系統 更新申請廉屋者資料

（檳城23日訊）檳州房屋局及電腦中心將改善系統，清理2008年之前的資料，即日起開放至明年3月31日，讓此前的廉價屋及中廉價屋申請者登記更新資料，以確保有資格者獲得獻議房屋。
檳州城鄉、房屋委員會主席黃漢偉週五在記者會上表示，只有2008年前的申請者才需要更新資料。
2008年前申請須更新
他說，截至2011年11月16日，多達8萬4445的廉屋申請者，在2007年12月31日前提呈申請。
他指出，由於時日已久，有些人的電話，可能還是過去的6個號碼，而一些人的地址換過、申請者去世、或不再感興趣，資料未更新，這導致發展商獻議的信函被退回。
黃漢偉說，房屋局及電腦中心將改善系統，關注現有的房屋局申請資料及租金系統，2010年1月15日推介網上房屋登記系統（eRumah），讓民眾可上網檢查最新狀況，增加透明度。
他指出，12月22日房屋局將會向所有議員及縣屬辦公室簡報，讓他們更有效將消息發佈給人民。
他說，更新資料的PN2表格可到人民代議士辦公室、縣屬辦公室、政府組屋房屋局辦公室、光大3樓和20樓房屋局領取。
他強調，要更新的資料包括地址、聯絡號碼、收入、家庭負擔及其他資料。
“如果申請者沒有在這3個月內更新資料，他們會被列為不活耀申請者，只有在更新資料後才會被復活。”
黃漢偉表示，更新資料可改善登記系統，成功獲得獻議購買的申請者名單，將發佈在網上及光大三樓，讓民眾在14天內檢查及反對。
他說，過了更新資料登記的期限，將會通知申請者的狀況，預計4月15日後民眾可查詢清楚。
出席記者會包括巴當拉浪州議員陳宗興、爪夷州議員陳明發、丹絨武雅州議員鄭雨週及檳房屋局主任莎達。
